When will X99 be replaced i know x79 and x58 lasted a long time and is still very competitive so when will this be replaced and what cpu's should we expect ?

Of course Win 10 is probably locked to your current hardware so you'll need a new copy of that too :(

Unless you haven't activated your Win10 yet, but the offer may have expired by the time Skylake-E is out :(

I replaced my motherboard with windows 10, I just reinstalled windows 8.1 using my windows 8 key and then re-ran the upgrade... I can now clean install win10 and it activates straight away... But yeah that wont work more than a year from now

What's with the windows 10? lol and if skylake is anything to go by the extreme version would be a massive jump over what we have on x99 ?

well with idf 2015, skylake is taking the reigns of transitioning the z79 and lga-1150 socket to z170 and the 1151 socket with oems showing samples as early as june @ computex.

The enthusiast shouldn't be left too far behind i hope, arn't the mainstream and enthusiast segments upgraded at the same time? or is it because broadwell e has been scrapped that its been skipped/delayed this year

Given recent slips in the Intel road map I would not be surprised if we don't see the next '-e' platform till at least q4 2016 or even 2017 fairly recent leaked roadmaps have skylake-e coming q3 2016.... It remains to be seen if we will get a broadwell refresh for x99 which if it does come is likely to be out in q1 2016. Imo I believe they will release an x99 refresh as there's almost certainly going to be a broadwell e5 2013-3 v4 range along similar lines for the Xeon range and without an x99 refresh there will be a big wait for something new in the enthusiast line to drive sales. With current prices for quad channel ddr, x99 motherboards' and 5820k's there's not many scenarios where an i7 6700k makes a convincing better buy
