What is an Logical Drive?

I'm partitioning one of my hard drives.

The 4th partition is intended for data (videos, music etc) and it says it is a Logical drive. I think I read somewhere that you can only have 3 normal drives?

Is it ok that is optical? I have no idea what it means.

Optical usually refers to a CD/DVD drive surely?

Is it ok that it's logical?

And also is it ok that Vista partition says (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition) and XP partition says (System, Active, Primary Partition)

I just want to make sure before I put a load of data back on that it's all ok.

I think I might make the Games partition the logical one, and the data drive one of the 3 normal ones just to be safe.

It makes no difference, you're limited to three primary partitions which are the oens you can boot from.

So, a logical drive is a normal partition except that you cannot boot from it?

Pretty much.
You can create three primary/logical partitions on a drive, and one extended partition that you can then divide into logical drives.
I think that's it!
