I was going to reply to the thread regarding the 'artist' who wants a volunteer to die in his exhibition which I consider sensationalist twaddle, but thought I would start a new thread.

For me, art requires skill on the part of the artist, perhaps a very subjective term in itself though. Also, I have to see beyond the artists skill , so the art itself doesn't leave me thinking 'I wish I could paint/play/construct like that', rather it's that property of the work that you cannot put into words.

I could drone on, but I wont haha

I would say the artist dying for his art would fit under this from the list above"

I don't particularly see it as art myself, but do thing that anything can be art, even if it is someone doing the above.

this would be better in SC imho.

take into account the power of the gallery and consider it. Then you will see why a turd on a plate is 'modern art'.
