I am having a PC made for me and cant decide what processor to go in it i have 2 choices.

I know there might be better CPUs then these 2 for the money but the thing is i am getting it free and can only have one or the other

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz CPU
OR
Intel P4 Presscot 3.2GHz

Which is better?
And can you give your reasons for your choice

Thanks in advance

Depends on what you plan on using the PC for.If its gaming, given the choice of those 2 i would go for the AMD everytime.Video encoding etc it would be the Intel.

I'd take a wild guess that the AMD64 will kill the pentium.
The architecture of the CPU is a lot better, althought it might be at around 1ghz slower, it does a lot more work for every mhz than the pentium does.
You will also be able to overclock the 3500 a lot further, making it even more better than the pentium.
The AMD64 will run a lot cooler than the power hungry P4 also.

For use as a CPU the 3500+ is the better option.

For use as an alternative heating method in the winter, the 3.2GHz Prescott is the better option :D

I think most people would say the 3500+ is the better of those two though
