Having done a forum search for a good, free 64bit firewall i went and downloaded Comodo.

I noticed in most of the threads that its recomended that you dont installed Defence+. But what is Defence+?

Even though i didn't know what it was I still selected the bare minimum install but when i load Comodo it appears that Definace+ is there altough it is listed as 'inactive'. Is that good enough assumiung its not possible to not install/uninstall it?

Cheers.

Yes, its OK deactivated. Defence+ is a kind of "whitelisting" antivirus which lets you choose which apps run on your machine - in effect its like an even more obtrusive and nerve-shredding UAC. Funnily enough though, a lot of security experts think "whitelisting" is the way forward security-wise.

Ah right. I'm glad its off then because after less than a day of using Vista i flipped out and turned UAC off because it was so freaking annoying.
