What is drum and bass?

Does anyone have some samples of drum and bass i can hear please?

I'm sure the bus driver was playing it today on the way back from college, it sounded great but i've never really known what real drum and bass is.

Weird question yes, but i've only ever really known trance

Yeah thats the music, thought thats what i was hearing today.

Vocals with drum and bass are just terrible though.
