What is Gadaffe capable of ?

Thick Question...

"Libya" is infact called The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya ... and Jamahiriya means "state of the masses" (like People's Republic).

If it is the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab People's Republic, why is the leader someone they don't want and going out shooting them?

because to put it simply he and his army are 'the hardest'

he led the revolution when he was 27 and no one has touched him since

places with socialist, and peoples republic etc in thier name tend to be that way.

but this has all the hallmarks of another Middle East smash and grab.

it certainly does look that way, but i dont think Gaddafi is going to let that happen easily, which brings me to the title of my thread,
he doesnt have nukes, if he did i can honestly see him using one, but whats the worst he can do if there is an all out offensive in Libya ?
are there any allies of Libya who will stand by them ?

Btw where are his female guards? Usually he is surrounded by them lol, probably they got tired aswell after listening to his boring and dull speech.:p

What is up with North Africa atm?

I dont really follow the news a lot, but didnt Tunisia have a little riot... Egypt chased their leader out of the country and now Libya....

The only positive for some is that if the Arabs get really wound up, then they could all open up a can of whoop on Israel.... people who have no right to claim land in that area. [/controversialopinion]

Time magazine's intelligence columnist reported on Tuesday that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has ordered his security forces to sabotage the country's oil facilities, citing a source close to the governmen

A good rule of thumb is , if it has "The peoples" in the name of the country then it will most certainly will not be a free and democratic country.

well Israel whooped them in 6 days last time they tried and it's now got some much better weapons tech.

Still the Israeli's foresight to develop the Durandal before the war and their use of it to obliterate the Egyptian air force in under an hour demonstrates that any major war against them is going to be hard fought as they are very good strategists and tacticians and have no qualms about preemptively striking before the enemy is prepared.

Also i doubt these people will want to waste the money they spent building their air force back up only to have it wiped out again.

What? Germany, now, is nowhere near as fascist as it was under them. I'm talking about the 'NSDAP'.

yes and i said that places that name themselves with such things, so *** all to do with the nazi's as they where a party not a country.

Former diplomat on R4 earlier said he would kill 20-30,000 people without hesitation once/if the uprising is quelled to send a message. He isn't a very nice man.

They had another witness in Libya who was reporting that any protester found by the authorities is being killed, further more if you have ID on your body, they will visit your house, kill all your family and demolish the house.

There have also been reports that military jets have been ordered to bomb the protesters. This has happened to some extent, but 2 pilots yesterday defected and fled to Malta in their planes. Its reported that the army is split 50/50 with half loyal to Colonel Gaddafi and half loyal to the protesters. Any soldier who refuses to shoot the protesters is being severely dealt with and faces being shot also for treason apparently.

Absolutely shocking stuff. Makes Sadam Hussein look a boy scout in comparison.

define "they"

There is a massive following for him in certain parts. This is just one large group of malcontents causing trouble. Gaddafi himself is calling upon those loyal to him to disarm the protesters. The country, much like the army, is split on this issue.
