Hey guys,

Had nothing but problems with this secondary LG monitor of mine (LG 23EA63)

When i first bought it,was fine for a couple of weeks then it would take absolutely forever to show a picture,It would turn on instant..but not show a picture anywhere from 5-20 mins,Then it would stay on and be fine until i turn it off again.

I RMA,d it,They said they fixed it..was okay for some time then, but same issue again now..but my warranty has expired.

Ive bought and tried another external power brick,Just incase the PSU was the problem,Changing that did nothing.

Now if it does manage to show a picture instantly from pressing the on button im either greeted by this sort of stuff..lines and messed up colours.

OR it simply just forever to show a picture again on the screen.

The weird thing is,It does not do this all the time,Sometimes i can switch the monitor on and it comes on fine..no waiting,No weird stuff going on with the screen.

Im just lost to what the cause of this issue is,Is it simply just a bad monitor and i got unlucky? :(

Any people with electronics knowledge know what could be causing this?

I would guess a loose connection, likely one of the ribbon cables inside the monitor.

If you are competent and and are able to do so safely, I would suggest taking the casing off and reseating the cables as a start.

When was the monitor repaired under warranty?

Looks like im going to have to open her up then,Not looking forward to it though,No visible screw holes..i bet its those crappy clips and you damage half of the plastic around the monitor just to get it open. :/

Next time it happens... hit the back of the monitor a few times.

Yeah the one time i got that green thing on the screen and tapped the top of the monitor it went back to normal then green again..but when i try that not it doesnt do anything either stays completely black screen or green lines all over it..going to attempt to open it up today and re-seat all cables.

Sure i have one of those plastic prying tools around somewhere,so i dont damage the plastic casing.

Well i opened it up,was easier than i expected it to be.

I unlatched all cables, blowed some compressed around too while i was at it..all in the contacts and re-seated all the cables..but it doesn't appear to have fixed the issue.

Still taking the monitor forever and a day to wake up from just a black screem.

Guess my only choice now is to try and source a new board for this monitor...any recommendations?

Cannot find a replacement board :(
Replacement PSU brick are like £25 (and i dont even know if that would fix it!)

Found one place that do repairs,But it costs £95 off the bat,and then they phone you to discuss any further repair costs lol..my day just gets better and better.

So basically i have a decent monitor that doesn't work!!!

It is rather old now and has done it's time just upgrade it :D

Just over 2 years old and it wasn't a daily used monitor,It really didn't ave a lot of hours on it (bear in mind it failed first time within around 5 months of first purchasing it)..i find it unacceptable that monitors only last that long these days...and what i find even more appalling is LG customer support.

I wont be getting anything LG again.

Well i managed to get an exactly the same monitor off the well known auction site,The monitor ha a broken screen but i only wanted the mainboard from inside.

Replaced that mainboard out of the broken screen one from the auction site into mine and no difference,So im assuming the issue is something to do with the screen on mine too.

Oh well guess il just recycle both the monitors and get me a new one..wish i could have got mine working again.
