What is it with AV stores?

Make sure you don't buy the Wharfedale 9.0, they are way too small a speaker my friend has 4 of them and tbh they sound crap. On the other hand i have demoed Wharfedale 9.1s and they sounds really good until I lessened to my Monitor Audio Bronze range ;)

Yea I have had words with people in richersounds, trying to tell me that you can hear/see a difference with better optical cables or HDMI cables. They clearly have no understanding of a digital signal, well the store in Leicester anyway :P

Also try having a haggle with richersounds as I was able to get a lot of free cable when i got an amp from them :)

For various reasons I've ended up going into my local Richer Sounds 4 times in 3 days!

Was after a Bluray player for the parents, didn't even bother asking about hdmi cables there as looking behind the counter and not seeing any cheaper than £30 I knew I'd be onto a loser.

The guys in there were ok, luckily the item I wanted they already had setup so I could have a listen, he even threw in their 5 year warranty free as I bought the Bluray player earlier in the day. That should have been about £25, and I can claim that back at the end of the 5 years if I can be bothered.

Will just have to order some online as I need 3 as well, would go and buy one locally but can't think of anywhere that'll do them as cheap!

Oh well, will just have to go in and pick the speakers I think look the nicest then and hope for the best.

Have been going back and forth on whether to get this stuff, and what I want that I just want the blimmin things now. I become obsessive to the point of sleeplessness when I get it in my head to get something, so come boxing day I am returning home with an amp and speakers.

i shouldnt worry, they offer a 14-day returns olicy, and would rather you take them and demo them, than try it in the shop. If you dont like, take them back and swap them for something else. (prices may have gone up then though)

Richers are pretty cool most of the time ive bought a stack of stuff off them before my needs grew beyond there shop.
Bit of a shame nowadays they dont really carry much hi end gear and cater more for the masses.
That said never had any problems , allways got some freebies thrown in when asked and there warrantys are very cool.
The staff as somebody mentions can be very helpfull at times but you allways get a muppet now and again.
Busy shops thou so try get in for a demo at the less busy times ie mid week mornings etc i used to have a great time with the glasgow shop guys many years ago on my just off night shift straight to the shop for a demo sessions :)
