What is it with certain words?

I know someone who uses 'your' and 'you're' the wrong way round. Not just 'your' instead of 'you're' as we commonly see, but 'you're' instead of 'your', i.e. 'I liek you're pretty dress DERRRRRRP'. I really do despair.

Are you telling me you actually say Draw-er for drawer? If so you are the first person I have ever known to do that.

You're kidding me right? Maybe it's slang where you come from, up here you would get really funny looks if you decided to randomly chop off the end of a word.

It is a drawer... and I say drawer. A draw is a completely different thing, and it would lead to a lot of confusion.

Why are there certain words people get completely wrong and replace it with a word that sounds nothing like it.

My sig is the perfect example. I mean, who would actually say the word "brought" in everyday life.

Ok, so when I am asked about the beer I took to a friends house, I shouldn't be saying "I brought it"

Should I say "I bought it". "And then I brung it here"

But DRAW is pronounced same as DRAWER so it sounds EXACTLY like it.

So unless you're talking about spelling online, when you appear to be talking about pronunciation I have no idea what you're on about.

Ok further inspection you're on about spelling and swapping words that appear similar.

I get your bought/brought problem but the draw/drawer thing is a bit perplexing as you do realise those words sound identical when spoken.

Does confusing their and there bother you?

Or confusing a word for lady parts with a type of food?

The lady parts was a joke. (Do you know what that is?)

To confirm I'm well aware of the differences of they're, there and their.

Their = Belonging to someone or something.
They're = They are
There = Any other time.

I do of course make the odd mistakes when typing in a rush.

There's nothing worse than being so pedantic you have to rake through my posts to pick out a fault. The only thing worse than someone who makes these mistakes is a pedant! Which you are well known for.

You must speak funny then. I certainly don't pronounce it the same and neither has anyone I've ever met or spoken to.

Must be a regional thing. When I talk they sound fairly similar because the first four letters are the same but there is a distinct difference in how they are said. The difference being the last two letters. They definitely aren't identical, spelt different & pronounced different.
