what is lapping??

Also makes removal of the cooler for cleaning a lot easier as only two screws have to be removed leaving the entire backplate assembly in place.

I want to lap my i7 920 and my H50 but my biggest concern is, is it possible to lap it too much that its too thin and won't achieve a good contact with heat sink?

I have done this years ago but only because the 3rd party heatsink I was going to use was not flat. The GPU should not be lapped though

In general never lap a water block

Hmm, I would be interested in trying it - not sure Ill get the time anytime soon though. Got some MX3 to put on aswell, would need to take some decent readings though.
