Hi everyone, not new to forums but new here.

With all this good weather we've been having it's got me thinking!
What is life really all about???

I'm a business man with three successful small businesses under my belt.
I do not need to work and although I'm some way off the retiring age, I've been semi-retired for bout 10 years and this year not worked much at all - some paperwork only!

Yes, I could use my time - some might say more wisely - to make more money by expanding my businesses, but as it stands at the moment, if I never worked again and all the businesses collapsed, there's plenty of money in the pot to enjoy the remainder of my life in relative comfort!

For the last six years I've spent the winter months in warmer parts of the world and enjoyed every minute but as I said, this year I really haven't done much work at all.
Just been taking things easy and enjoying life to the full doing as I wish without the stress and rush of everyday life!

So my question is:
Is this the right way to think?

I ask this because sometimes I feel guilty as most around me are rushing around working to make ends meet and to save enough money for three or four weeks holiday a year to do exactly what I do all year!
Even those I associate with, who imo have no need to work because of their success, still carry on striving to make more money!
Agreed they love what they do but it still brings them stress and anguish when things go wrong, plus they are not as free to stop for any length of time for personal life!

Added to this, I've seen many people work until a good age only to retire and die soon after or end up having a heart attack/stoke etc, then find themselves incapable or restricted to enjoy the remainder of their life!
Where's the enjoyment in that!!

Is there a right way or is it everyone to their own?
Your thoughts and opinions please.

Cheers
Mike

I would be very thankful of my position and it's my dream to be in a similar one. If i were you i'd relax and enjoy life, you made it and 'won the game'

Be happy and put your energy to rising a nice family.

This is you're first post? No wonder you have problems enjoying life.

Life is about nothing, just **** around and laugh at it.

Have fun, don't work yourself to death, enjoy life to the full because tomorrow it might not be here.

It sounds like you're lazy Mike. I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday. I'm also gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday too. We, uh, lost some people this week and we sorta need to play catch-up. Okay.

Being well off is relative, Surround yourself with Tramps off the street & a 20 quid note can make you the richest person around. :p
Equally you could be a millionaire in certain areas & be looked down at for having New money & very little of it. :D

As for You, I & more than likely everybody else don't really care how much you have.
You are valued here on contribution not real World assets. :p

Why has no one said "42"? Because if I know hilarious - and god dammit, do I ever know hilarious - it is to answer "42" whenever the meaning of life comes up!

Also, mom says I'm cool so take that haters.

It sounds like you've gotten yourself into an amazing position, and have, like Robgmum said, "won the game". How's your family position? Are you spending all your free time with your spouse / partner, while seeing the kids as often as possible? Are you jetsetting around the world, random one night stand after the other?

From the information you've given us, we can certainly all say you've done fantastically well on a professional level, but we have no idea on a personal level!
