What is life all about?

Why has no one said "42"? Because if I know hilarious - and god dammit, do I ever know hilarious - it is to answer "42" whenever the meaning of life comes up!

Also, mom says I'm cool so take that haters.

Beaten me to it! I was going to write "The meaning of life - 42".

However there are also many with good houses, expensive cars, they live the good life just to keep up with the Joneses. If they were not so flippant with their money and downsized not living the high life then they would be able to do the same as me!
It's not essential to be 'rich'.

However...

Basically, I'm happy with the way I live my life. I'm not saying it's better than anyone else's life because 1. I don't judge how other people live, thats for them to decide and 2. The way I live my life may not suit everyone.

I think "live and let live" is the phrase that feels more apt to me here.

I also don't think everyone buys good houses and expensive cars to keep up with anyone. I for one love motoring and want to own expensive cars as cheaply as I possibly can, typically because the "expensive" cars I view are the performance models, ones that I admire and love driving. It has nothing to do with image.

Owning a good house reaps many, many benefits. If one feels the need to work his backside off to afford this for himself and or his family, then so be it.

I understand some of the points you're trying to convey OP, but as a whole you're coming off contradictional.

One thing this thread shows is being rich aint all that. OP you have a load of money and have enjoyed yourself but it still seems like you're struggling to find a purpose.

OP have a bandage for that barrage you've just had ;)

Well done on being able to live life comfortably, it's a goal most people aim for I suspect. I didn't get the impression your were rubbing it in, gloating etc. I did see quite a few replies from people with a chip on their shoulder though.

People shouldn't begrudge other people having money, it's just weak character to do so, especially if those people have worked for it! I say good luck too anyone who can do well in this life.

Having money makes it easier to live your own idea of life and not someone else's ie your Boss, company's etc

Personally I'd try to help other people I have close ties too and for myself id travel and live my life all over this planet before I die. Or to be more precise before age and health makes me unable to... That would full fill me and make me feel like I'd done some thing with my time here rather than just trudge around the everyday rat race...

OP. remember to set your feet and hold that shield high before you post in GD again about a subject where the "I have a hard life and feel like the world owes me" gather in hordes ;) "note to self -SHIELDS UP".

I don't understand business people who have made fortunes only to keep working and making money until they drop dead. Especially if what they are doing is not something that helps humanity in a meaningful way. Are they just greedy? Or are they just boring people with nothing else better to do?

I know that as soon as I made a certain figure. I would just stop all work and just enjoy life.

Op is winning life. Reflect on how lucky you are and go indulge your passions.

Money only matters up to the point when you have enough that it isn't your primary concern. After that, it's just a balancing act between keeping at that level and doing the absolute minimum amount of work possible :D

Greed, the more you have the more you want.

- they love it
- they get immense satisfaction from it
- it makes them happy
- they have psychotic tendencies

Take your pick.
