What is my problem now then...

What was the brand and wattage of the other PSU you tested on the rig?

I'm unsure of the brand of the other PSU, but the wattage is about 420W, surely enough to power a mobo, cpu and ram

Also, my new mobo is 8Pin, which the other PSU only has 4Pin, but 8Pin would only be needed on a high power rig wouldn't it?

It would be if it was a branded make and not a generic/ancient model.

It still might be worth checking the credibility of your current PSU – just so you can rule it out.

Go to Admiral Hubby’s site – link and scroll down to ‘How to check Your PSU is working’ and ‘Using a multimeter to check your PSU’.

You shouldn’t have any problems as his instructions are easy to follow.

It's not posting siumatfung (i had to check and recheck to type your name ;)).

I think he was just asking whether the MB would tell him if a gfx wasn't connected - which it would - if it could have course. Have you got a speaker connected to the MB or case Silenced?

No i dont, but i didn't see anything when i tried it with gfx card in.
I'll try with another gfx card when mobo returns, i'll try psu testing tomorrow too.
