What is needed to run my 19v TV at 12v please?

Afternoon all,

Just wonderwhat the best option is to run my 19v TV at 12v in the caravan?

It's got an external power brick of that helps.

If the TV needs 19V feed then you need some kind of boost converter for the 12V source (which is often inefficient sometimes as much as 20% power loss).

Another option is 12v to 220/240V mains inverter but again quite inefficient if you are using batteries as a source - also you'd want to spec one a fair bit above the actual wattage of the device(s) you are using as other than the high end ones they have a tendency to go pop sooner or later otherwise.

Will it not work at 12V and a higher current? Most electronics actually have a broad range voltage they will work at.

It will probably be easier and more efficient to buy another TV that runs on 12v.

19volts seems such a stupid voltage

Am sure i remember owning a laptop many years ago that also needed a stupid 19volt charger/power supply

Same as many years ago when loads of things used to need a 9volt power supply so you could not run it or charge it from a car 12volt supply
