what is the advantage of lcd monitors over CRT monitors???

hi, i am thinking of getting a lcd monitor (i have a crt one at the moment) but i didnt want to pay £150+ just for a space saving monitor so i was wondering if they did anything else?? (e.g better quality image etc.)
