What is the average 3dmark 05 score?

Your question is like asking how long is a piece of string. :) There may be a feature on The Orb to let you know what the median scored is across all PCs but I can't say I'm surprised an FX5600XT scores that low (that probably is about average for that sort of specification PC).

3DMark 06 is aware of multi-cores right? I know a lot of people still have mono-core but why do people with multi-core still run 05?

05 is the best guage of a gfx cards performance since the cpu is not factored into the score directly.

06 score is based on cpu so its not a good guage of gfx cards performance.

e.g: someone with a 7900gs running a dual core system will score higher than someone running an x1950pro on a single core system. then people will say that the 7900gs is faster, but thats because the score in 06 is taking cpu into consideration.

06 is good to guage overall system speed. 05 is good got gfx card comparrisions.

right thanks for the reply, gonna have to get my head around that one . . .

i think 05 is affected by cpu speed?, so would it be simpler just to say that 05 removes the multi-core advantage? (that 06 offers?)

YES... 06' gives a higher score for multicore CPU's so some people with multicores score 1000-2000 extra marks in 06... This doesn't happen in 05'...

3DMark'05 is very CPU limited so also is no really a good GPU benchmark for the high end cards now.

Strange as it may seem 3DMark'03 reacts more to an increase in speed of my 8800GTS card than 3DMark'05 does.

And 254 is very low, even for a FX5600XT, is it not

lol my nvidia 6600 got me 3300 but it can play games with 4aa and 8af at 1280x1024 why does it suck at benchies
