What is the best and safest torrent program to download legal torrent files?

Hi guys,

As per question, don't normally use torrents but I have a large torrent file to download (legally) but need a torrent program, so please can you recommend a decent and safe program, ie virus, malware free etc....

I'm using uTorrent 2.2.1 as per the poster above, and it seems to be working ok?

Are torrent clients like windows versions, ie they have better security with each new release? Should I be using the newest version?

As I've downloaded the file now and used Kaspersky to check it, is that enough? Will utorrent put anything unwanted on my PC at all?

uTorrent itself is a nice torrent client but the malware from the installer combined with in app ads has turned me away. Deluge is Open Source, multi platform and easier to use for beginners.

I used an earlier version and de-selected the extras install option, so hopefully it'll be ok? I'm due a windows re-install soon so that should sort it.

Just hope the file I downloaded isn't compromised? Nothing on Kaspersky though?
