I am looking to buy some RAM for my GA-Z77X-UD5H Motherboard but I am unsure what is the best to go for? I am wanting to game on my PC and looking at getting 16gb

I am a total noob with this so really not sure what is best to go for?

Thanks for reading and any help would be very much appreciated :)

Hi

Not a huge choice on DDR3 as it is pretty much obsolete now that DDR4 is here. The two kits below are the cheapest 16GB I can see. You might get cheaper if you Google.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £266.68 (includes shipping: £8.70)

4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory
* Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2800(OC)/1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

Will 1866 memory work in my motherboard? Those are what it says on the website.. Says 2800oc but no 1866mhz?

Thanks for your help guys

It should work fine, if it doesn't then it will downtrain and relax the timings.

That said QVL for memory is only a tested and supported list of memory. Often they are of specific BOM or version which you will not be able to get the exact one. Its a case of try and see really.

You should be able to pick up 16Gb DDR3 1600/1866Mhz Of memory for about £60 second hand.

If you have a look at QVL it shows memory from 1066Mhz to 2800Mhz inclusive of 1866Mhz.

I have ddr3 2x8gb corsair dominator platinum on my rig. Rated at 2400mhz but can only get them to run at the speed in my sig... Then again my cpu is the issue as technically it only supports up to 1333mhz from memory
