Hi. I'm looking for advice on the best gaming monitor to buy for the following mid-level setup

Motherboard MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON MAX WIFI
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
GPU Nvidia GTX 1660S
RAM Corsair CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18 2x8GB

I'm playing games like GTA V, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, and Half-Life Alyx on VR (not sure if the monitor affects this or not)
Am I better off with 1080p at 240 +hz, or could I run 1440p at 165hz. I don't game competitively and often play at night with the lights off after work, so I'm also not sure if a VA panel is worth thinking about. Also at present, I have a 27" monitor but have seen people recommending 25" at 1080p.
I've been considering an
ACER Predator XB273X or a
ASUS TUF VG279QM

are these good options or does anyone have any better suggestions up to £400.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Depends on whether you ever plan on updooting that GPU in the next year.

£400 will defiantly buy you more than the GPU can handle. By that logic you might be better off waiting until you can find a new GPU until you upgrade the monitor. A 1660S is able to drive 1080p at around 70 - 110 hertz, so it might not be worthwhile doing this at the moment.

I'd probably look into something in the 1440p 144-165 herz range with that kind of money, maybe the: Acer Nitro VG271U, VG270U or XB273UGS if you can find it on offer.

That said I'm personally convinced that above 144 herz is largely pointless, which you may disagree with.

Thanks for the reply cooler, after speaking to a couple of people I have decided to opt for a 2440p and then possibly update the gpu once they appear again. I'm looking at the Razer Raptor 27 as they look sooo nice.
