Guys,

I know its not a straight cut question but the reason I ask is I currently have the Abit IP35Pro which is brilliant for overclocking however i overlooked the fact its an ATI crossfire and I wanted a SLI.

I currently have a 8800 Ultra with 4gb of ballistix pc6400 memory with a Q6600 SLACR.

Can someone recommend me a board thats good for overlclocking with the hardware I have got and can easily accomodate a SLI setup of an additional 8800 Utra making it 2 :D without losing pci slots as I use 1 for audigy 4 and an other for tv card.

And in the future I want to add watercooling so I would assume this would be down to the case to ensure space rather than a choice of motherboard ?

Thanks for your help :):)

if you don't SLI just yet then wait for the nforce7 boards, becasue your current board is better than any current board that supports SLi, for overclocking that cpu.

If you really want the Sli and have two Large high end resolution monitors the you would be wanting the 780i mother board. But note: the 780i motherboard use the exact same chip set as the 680i motherboards. The new boards have been cosmetically revamped same 680i chipset.

Apart from from the 680i chip set the only make over is Tri sli including (PCI2).

As to say your present motherboard the IP PRO is an excellent over clocker and will accommodate a water block. When you run SLi you will loose a slot unless you water cool the the GCs.

In all honesty you are better staying with your original set up. If you decide to move over to the nvidia chip set ie 780i just for Sli imo its a bad mistake.

Q1 2008 new motherboards entering the fray. If you can hold out, it may worth it.

I'd happily swap my Asus 680i for an IP35Pro, put it that way. If i were you, i'd hang on to the board you've got and save the cash for the new 9800GTX rather than going SLI. Nvidia Nforce chipsets are nothing but trouble.

To be fair, your better off sticking, as the SLI NVidea stuff lacks any real support, is very expensive, and doesn't actually speed games up in real terms.

SLI in most cases is a bit of a willy waving exercise at the moment, as in "Oh look at me, I've got 2 £300 graphics cards! Aren't I wealthy"

go for either Asus Maximus Extreme with sum DDR3. If you wanna keep ** hardware go for Asus maximus formula. Avoid 780i just yet. Maybe wait for X48 next month
