I have spent a LOT of time this week trying to get my PC to send movies to my Panasonic plasma with 5.1 sound and I MUST make a breakthrough.
I have shelved the soundcard optical output project for now because it is such a pain, if necessary I will buy a proper movie sound card for my PC at some point.
I am currently experimenting with using my 360 to play the videos via video share - and have finally managed to get the 360 to view all my video collection
I would appreciate some help determining the best way to get 5.1 sound through my XBox (connected to my Sony cinema kit via optical) through a network share with my PC:
- The 360 apparently supports Dolby Digital 5.1 in an AVI format - does it also support AC3?
- Does TVersity output in 5.1 - and if so, does it increase the number of formats I can output 5.1 in (vs. a standard network video share)?
Downloading movies with 5.1 channels in an AVI format is the only reliable method I have sound so far, but these seem to be very rare - especially in 720p!
Your help would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks
