Hi guys just wondering if anyone new a quick way of releasing the microfit pins from a 24 pin molex. I found a video on youtube by westcoastmods that uses flattened paperclips to push in the tabs in, does anyone know if the tool is available in the UK or is the paperclip method the way to go?

Cheers

Matt

there are many different tool available in the UK for removing pins from all types of PC connectors.

I dontknwo if OCUK sell them or not but they are 100% availabke as I have some (although not boiught via OCUK so I cant say where)

just had a quick look at OCUK site and they sell the sleeving and heat shrink etc but I couldnt see any tools. odd. maybe someone else will pop up in a mo and say here they are - link.

unfortunately the atx one is out of stock, I did see some on the bay after I had posted, annoyingly I slipped with a screwdriver and spread one of the connectors so now have to figure out how to get it out.

aw hell man, dont even try to get all 24pins out without the correct tooling. you are just asking for trouble.

The pins are so easily damaged beyond repair and even with the correct tools there is usually some re-bending to do as is. going in all fingers and thumbs with a screwdriver wont help. (I know lol)

2x Half straightened standard office paper staples and a pair of pointy pliers is all that you need really. You may need a blade to pull the locking barb up afterwards.

Just put the staples either side of the terminal in the little slot there and push both staples down whilst pushing the wire in and then give the wire a little pull.

I did a whole PSU using this method and always used the same method when I worked with cable harnesses in my day job rather than trying to find a proper tool.

Or buy a tool.

I used two needles and a small pair of pliers to remove mine, was fiddly, but not too bad once you do a few.
The first needle went in easy by hand, than the second one needed the pliers to push it in far enough to release it.
