most powerful cpu either now or in the next few months for my mobo below.

lets get this right once and for all... it'll need to overclock well

Even if the 4770K is a poor overclocker I couldn't justify a upgrade to a 4790K, even if you sold the 4770K to help with the costs.

i'm very pleased with my new rig below

the cpu looks great, i havent touched any overclocking yet and it's at 3.9 with an idol temp of 22 to 24 degrees, that is with Megahalems but no fans, i only ordered the fans today.........cpu is lapped and lidded and it has that liquid metal stuff.....i think it'll be ok

the rig was a sod to start because i forgot to delete the Asus Bios, i had a black screen for half an hour.... i thought the PSU was faulty again or the cpu had blown... it suddenly started and said ``conflict bios``.......phew !

it's running via onboard graphics, i'm not fitting the 7990 yet, i cant handle any more hassle right now

it's supposed to be 3.5 stock but mine is at 3.9.... why is this ?

damn it it's not working now, i cant turn off the pc, the fans are just speeding up instead, i think the front header panel is wired up wrongly, the monitor turns off, but the mobo fans wont stop.

on start up, it only starts via the smaller button

Keep the 4770k, even at 4ghz which every single chip will do, it's absolutely fine for most tasks

Take them off and re apply. You've obviously got your power sw on your reset pin.

no it wasn't that, it's one of the OC buttons on the front of the mobo, it turns off the pc, but keeps the fans running.....dont ask why !!!

the OC software with this mobo is a wee bit complicated, it's more like a technical manual for geeks, the mobo has loads of buttons on it and test sensor areas, i've never seen a mobo like this before
