What with sandybridge doing very well, and amd's bulldozer being a bit of a wet fart. Whats the best upcoming replacement for a 1366 setup, ie something that offers proper dual x16 pcie for multi gpu setups? I havent been keeping an eye on cpu gossip lately.

I believe the cpu's will be pretty expensive for sbe? Ive been thinking of getting shot of one of my x58 rigs, (one in sig) or my 930 p6 x58de setup.

Well yeah, and IMO SB-E is silly for gaming. It's either Sandy Bridge or wait for Ivy Bridge.

As for 16x PCI-E slots...who cares. There's no real difference

ivybridge is only a 10-15% performance increase than sandybridge at the most so either sbe (it'll be more expensive but is aimed more at enthusiasts/gamers but may not give much of a perfomance increase over SB) or haswell which is intels next new archetecture which is comming in like 2014? maybe 2013,
