What is the generally the consensus on maximum screen size for a Monitor?

Just wondering your thoughts on this.

I am thinking of buying a 37" 1080p LED TV (probs an LGLS5600) for a big screen monitor. I will be sitting about 3 feet away from screen.

What would be your maximum screen size in this scenario generally speaking?

It's all down to preference really. I don't think 37" is too big as a screen, but I do think that for 1080p, 37" is too big, the pixels would look like lego bricks from 3 feet away.

This also crossed my mind. Am I right in saying 27" is the maximum one really wants to go at this sort of distance?

Thanks for your thoughts guys - I am definitely swaying towards a 24-27" 1080p monitor (remember I have this 50" plasma here too connected to same PC).
