what is the HDA and AC'97 and where do you put it ?

They're for front panel audio, either plug into your motherboard if you have integrated sound or on to the sound card. Most use HD these days, AC'97 is generally for older mobos/cards i believe.
 
There should be a header on the motherboard usually somewhere near to the rear ports, you use whichever corresponds with the type of onboard sound card you have and as mentioned most modern boards will be HDA.
