Short version -

Third monitor plugged into my RX480 via DP to DVI cable stopped working after my PC rebooted this morning.

Working one minute. Nothing the next. "No Signal"

Plugged in the DVI to DVI cable. Worked fine. Plugged in the HDMI to DVI. Worked fine.

Plugged DP to DVI cable into another monitor on an Nvidia 1050ti.Nothing.

Disconnected all cables. Switched off PC for about 30 seconds. Still nada.

The DP to DVI cable looks undamaged and no kinks but is the only common denominator.

Thoughts?

If it’s not working on two different machines then looks like its died. Can you borrow one or order a spare to quickly test and if no joy return it?

Ordered a new cable. Should be arriving tomorrow. Would be astonished if it is actually the problem but as discussed, only common denominator.

Hoping it is that simple because the alternative is either blown DP or software issue. Seeing as we have had a Windows 10 update and Radeon Adrenalize update, not looking forward to working out which in a month old build

Are you doing all this cable switching with everything off? You should be. Although 99.99% of the time it's safe, .01% of the time it will damage the port. I have blown up more graphics card and monitor ports than I care to admit to.

Having said that, it does sound like it's the cable. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth!!!

As "Sherlock Pocah" states, that theory holds true. New cable arrived. Attached it to the monitor (plugged in but switched off) and then into the DP (PC was switched on ). Recognised immediately. Set up and working.

So, just goes to show, even something like a cable can function and then not. Still not sure what happened. It was working. Computer rebooted and when it loaded up, monitor not working. Nothing moved, bumped, cut, burned etc. Just wierdness.

Anyway, all's well that ends well. Original cable (one month old) is being refunded.

Regards
