What is the most beautiful car of all time?

Technical and clinical in a different sense than the mk2. The golf was always function first and form second, it wasn't designed to be a beautiful car, just a family hatchback

I'm pretty sure it was also designed to look nice as well though. Also is it not conceivable that as an accident of function over form a beautiful object was created?

Another one of my favourites is the Rolls-Royce Phantom III Labourdette

Not in the case of a Mk2 Golf though. It's a fairly generic hatchback from the era, albeit one of the better built ones. It's no more beautiful than a Peugeot 205, or an Astra GTE.

I do agree. I do think that the shape has become something of an icon though, and thus could now be conceived as a beautiful car. In many ways most of the classics in this thread like the old ferraris etc are all generic swoopy looking classics, still gorgeous though.

How do you conceive an existing car? :p

Conceived as beautiful I said. So taking something which would not normally be considered beautiful, but you manage to see the beauty in it. Thus you conceive it's beauty, you realise it is actually beautiful. I'm playing devils advocate though. Golfs are ugly in my opinion.

Thing is though, it is only ONE Impreza that I reckon looks good.

The one with all the body kit and crap?

That to me shows that you don't think that the car itself is beautiful, just the way it has been "modified" (albeit by the manufacturer).

He knows that too, it's clear it wasn't a typo on your behalf. The point is the correct word to use is perceived

No, the correct word to use for what I was meaning to say was conceived. I was talking about how one might conceive there own idea of beauty.

The white one is stock STi, the black one is the RB320 modified one, which I said I do not like as much.

It's "stock" yes, but I mean it's been made to look like a more humble car (a four door family saloon/hatchback basically) that has a body kit, air intakes, alloys etc. Strip all that back and your left with a very mundane car. Each to his own though, I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, it'd be boring if we all agreed on one car as the most beautiful.
