What is the next WOW?

Warhammer online - made my Mythic that made Dark age of camelot, which I played for 5 years so i'll definitely be going for it... and hoping EA havent messed with mythics production too much

the next wow is whatever blizzard makes to replace it which probably won't happen for a few years cause mmo's lifespan are quite big.

Success wise I seriously doubt Age of Conan will be more than a niche game however good it is, Warhammer Online has a chance at being successful but 9million subscribers? Come on, its a big ask for any game.

If you want to beat WoW this is how you do it.

First of you build a very good story line, make sure your able to edit it without making space paladins.

Then you create the world, lots of detail, lots of interactive elements and nice graphics, not crysis like.

Then you choose the classes, too many and it gets complicated, too little and it gets boring, make them unique and watch class balance closely.

Then you turn it into a FPS, making it a FPSMMORPG with 3rd party option, add physics, add interact able physics elements e.g. boulders blocking doors making them unable to be opened etc.

Then you try your hardest to hold onto the original development team otherwise you loose the plot and make space paladins.

Then you market it well and make it nice and cheap to buy and monthly sub.

Your done, you'll have a winner.

Do you have nightmares about space paladins?

The thing that puts me off Age of Conan is the community. The M rating they are aiming for seems to be attracting just the sort of players you would expect in an M rated game...

I doubt that. The first Guild Wars was average at best, and even the lack of a monthly subscription didn't help it gain anything more than a niche following. Warhammer, Conan and such are looking far more threatening than Guild Wars 2 and those aren't exactly denting WoW's playerbase either.

I cannot see people flocking to Guild Wars 2, simply because it's not 'made that way'. It's not what the general 10 million WoW players are looking for.

I'm not so sure, the current GW has over 2 million active players worldwide, thats already a substantial user base. You may have thought it was average but most games magazines rave about it and i can see why, the classes are well balanced and PvP is one of the best around. It's got a great storyline and you get it all for no subs.

Guild wars 2 will have a persistent world and allow players to jump off mountains just like any other mmo, all the criticisms levelled at it by WoW fans are being removed.

I don't think it will be the new king of mmorpgs but it's highly likely that it will be among the top 3.

Mature adults? Got to be better than squeaky teenagers.

If it doesn't get banned in the US for nudity or "paying for sex buff" first. ;)

Some things like that in AoC do worry me about the type of player that'll go into the game since we all know what parents think of the game rating system.

That has all been done before in Star Wars Galaxies, minus the wall bit. :)

Actually, Star Wars Galaxies did it better than Age of Conan..at least in SWG the player cities were integral and part of the game world. Unfortunately in AoC the player cities are instanced and thus not "part" of the game world. You wont just wander along and bump into a player city like you could in SWG.

I didn't actually know that Age Of Conan cities were going to be instances. That's pretty lame. :o

Yeah, the player cities are instanced, the player controlled battlekeeps arent, but there are only a limited number of those available per server, so I expect the big guilds to tie up the available ones of those
