What is the purpose of the extra 2 pins?

Hi everyone. Just got my Corsair HX 520W. Regarding the 2 pci-express cables, what are the extra 2-pins? My GPU only has 2 6-pin slots. :confused:

Some GPUs use 8 pin designs, such as my GTX280, which has an 8-pin and a 6-pin power input (it's hungry!). Just stick the pins all together and it fits in an 8-pin socket. Just tuck it out of the way if you're not using it, or cable tie it to the rest of the cable neatly.

also if u look sometimes ya 4 pin M/board connecter has another 4 pin that clips togther like that aswell for the 8 pin slot m/b that are out there ..
