What is the technical definion for '...'?

Perhaps I've got too much time on my hands, but I've always wondered what the three consecutive full stops are technically called i.e. '...'? I must have been asking the wrong people, because none of my friends know. Thanks in advance for this strange request.

That's a pilcrow, commonly used to represent paragraphs. Not something you're likely to need in everyday use, you'll only tend to see it if you turn on the formatting in Word or similar.

Apparantly a section sign, you could always take a look on Wikipedia which has a listing of common and not so common punctuation on the right hand side of the page.
