What is the true definition of 'Next Day Delivery'

Well if you're Carphone Warehouse then it's 3 days so far!

On Wednesday 5th Nov as 7:35am I placed an order on their website for a Nokia Lumia 830 - Orange (Sim Free) as it was £20 cheaper than anywhere else!

I selected the 'Next Day Delivery' option as I was going to be at home on Thursday, so No Problems!

I received the 'Confirmation of Order' email almost immediately, but by 9pm that night I'd NOT received the 'Dispatch' email telling me the DPD tracking number!

10am on Thursday, still nothing, I phoned the Customer service people, They said there had been a 'Picking Problem' on Wednesday, but it was now ready and will be delivered on Friday (today). Again by 9pm Last night I'd NOT received the 'Dispatch' email telling me the DPD tracking number!

9am Today I phoned CS again, I was told the 'Picking Problem' again, this time for Thursday! I said I'd been told that was Wednesday and asked why it was still sitting in the warehouse and not in a DPD van! :mad: After phoning the Web Team, She had No Idea!! :confused:

I've now been told it WILL be delivered tomorrow... blah blah blah...

If it's not, That's 3 strikes and I'm cancelling the order and just paying the extra £20squid and getting it direct from Microsoft! :mad:

There was Stock (apparently!), The payment was taken! so I can't see what the problem could be!!

I ordered a replacement Nano SIM from Three on the Wednesday, on a 3 to 5 'Working Day' delivery, This came on Thursday!!

I've asked my Wife to remind me in the future NOT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM CARPHONE WAREHOUSE EVER AGAIN!!! :o

Both times I phoned they said "There appears to be plenty of Stock in all 3 colours!"

Are you telling me they might have been lying to me!?!?!? :confused: ( ;) )

Still no 'Dispatch Confirmation' email :mad:
 
Ordered a new phone for my wife on a Sunday morning and it was delivered Monday morning...

That struck me as pretty good next day delivery from Carphone Warehouse :p
 
I phoned them Friday Night, and this time the Customer Services person, after telling me that the phone was still in 'Picking' stage, and I started to kick up a fuss, put me through to the Web Sales/Service team...

Luckily I got through to the supervisor in the department, and she was very helpful, she said she'd contact the Warehouse and phone me back ASAP after finding out what was going on!.

I didn't hold out much on this as it was 6:30pm at that point!

8:10pm she actually phoned me back!! :eek: It looks like, for some reason, my order was re-opened 4 times causing a problem on the picking system (I had 4 phones picked, but only payment for 1)... This has now been sorted and the DPD guy was picking it up as we spoke!

I was shocked she'd actually phoned back so late in the day!, but happy that my phone was out for delivery!

I've just received (this minute!) an email and Text from DPD telling me that it will be delivered tomorrow!! :cool:

Not bad! 'Next Day' actually means '5 Days' (which is what it would have been direct from Microsoft coincidently!!)

Looking forward to playing with it (as I have the SIM here ready!!) on Tuesday!! :D
 
O2 offer next day delivery until 10pm! I've seen 11pm on some eCommerce sites.
 
Have you asked for a refund on the postage? Or at least charge you for the lower-tier service? You didn't get what you paid for at the end of the day.
 
It was free!

the phone was £20 less than buying direct from Microsoft (and Amazon) and the 'Next Day' delivery was free!..

You get what you pay for apparently!!!
 
Well it's been delivered!!!

I now have to wrestle it out of my Wife's hands when I get home as she sait me a text saying "I have a New Phone!! :) "

I may be visiting A&E tonight having sustained various broken bones!! :(
 
Pleased to hear that it arrived in the end... albeit a bit later than it should have.

I am actually a Prime customer with Amazon, which should (in theory) guarantee me 'next day delivery' on any eligible purchase, but unfortunately they don't seem to have realised yet that any untracked item sent by Royal Mail 1st Class will NOT automatically be delivered the following day!

However whenever this does occur, I just give them a quick call (or get them to call me!) and they invariably extend my Prime subscription by one month, which is now worth nearly £7, so I am usually happy with that... especially when the item I which ordered only cost me £6 anyway! :)
