What is the Wii Classic controller for?

well I've always struggled to understand how footy games are going to work, do we think it'll use the classic remote then?

would it be worth getting one even if i dont want to download any classic games?

probably not. I think its main appeal is for old school games

The Wii can use Gamecube controllers, I think. Hopefully someone will confirm.

Paul

yeah believe you can but only on certain VC.

There was a grid somewhere explaining what controllers match up with what VC's

Gamecube controllers can be used for all VC games.

But the classic controller cannot be used for GC games - you have to have a GC controller if you use your wii for gamecube titles.

I actually thought the classic controller was similar to a NES or SNES design for a retro feel. lol

i should look into things before i post :D

i just did a google and saw.. its not what i thought hehe

I'm not sure :) The console is surely about the games first and foremost, and the control system is secondary? I assumed the classic controller was something you could buy if you preferred that way of playing. Maybe I'm wrong then.

Would be crap for that, the sticks are in the wrong place.

it would probably give an advantage to players who use a conventional controller as well.

The whole point of the remote is to make games more fun to play, it might make them harder to play but that in turn gives more challenge and reward.

amount of mis-information in this thread is crazy.

The classic controller can only be used in VC games.

The gamecube controller is the only controller that can be used for gamecube games.

The classic controller will not work outside of VC games.

For wii designed games that can't make use of the wiimote's movement capabilities (such as football games) you turn the controller 90 degrees so that it's like a standard controller with a d-pad and a+b buttons.

..Also a possible way to play NES games, without the classic controller

Didn't the creator of Smash Bros. say to not throw away your GC pads? I don't believe that games such as Smash Bros. or a football game wouldn't use the Classic controller - the Wiimote doesn't look great button wise for intricate games does it?

I think we'll see a multitude of games that use the Classic controller outside of the Virtual Console.
