Have you looked at insurance quotes for any cars yet?

My girlfriend is going to pass her test next year and wants a car. I'm not willing to insure anything higher than a low powered clio/yaris/fiesta (even the fiesta is a lot more than the Yaris) as I'd rather put the extra money from the insurance into getting her a better example of the cheaper car.

Tell her that just like most other people, first cars are generally poor or at least the low powered version of an ok car.

Don't want to put a downer on things but I looked at quirky more individual cars and the insurance was a lot more.

I would have suggested a Mini. If shes a bit sporty I've seen Racing Pumas for £4-4.5K although I don't know much about them.

Yeah, I was wanting to spend £2k-3k on the actual car really. She needs a decent car but we're house buying too.

Racing Puma is a bit much for a first time driver I would've said.

If you are looking at Pumas watch out for rust; they inherited the Ka's ability to dissolve like a 70's Italian car.
