what is this connector ?

this actually plugs into a itx main board to power a hard drive.

i have a floppy connector. they are not the same. the floppy connector pins which is also a 4 pin female is more closer. where as this cable here is more spaced apart?

here is a pic:

i need to get a replacement cable but i dont know what it is called

If you need another cable then you will end up making up one yourself.
Although it looks like a floppy power connector it is not.
As you say it is larger.
Also the red and yellow wires 12v 5v are reversed from the layout on a floppy power connector.

If you have an electronics parts shop near you take the cable in and they can identify the connector.

here is a better idea of what the connector looks like on the board

its the one of the left ( 4 pin)

That's the motherboard so far as I can tell, unfortunately they don't list the cable in their accessories on the site and I'm pretty sure it's proprietary; I've not seen another cable like it.

I don't know what your problem is with it but I suggest you save the motherboard connector and splice it into something useful yourself. You can get a terminal block at any hardware store that'll let you join cable to cable so you won't have to fiddle with the connectors at all.

You want a screw terminal block, like this:

Simply cut and bare the wire, screw in a length on each side. Simples! They come in a range of sizes, some can be cut to requirement.

Much simpler than actually changing the molex connectors (although you can get kits for it that are pretty good).
