Isn't that the thing used for prising up cpus from the motherboard? Can't see it being for a dvd drive as why would it need to be bent at the end?

Pretty sure they were for moving jumper caps, they could get a bit finicky so this latched into them and let you move them easier.

yes i remember those !
TBH i have never seen one of those before and have worked on processors and boards going back to near enough intels first and have never seen anything like that.
Plenty of jumpers for this and that ect but not this ring piece.
