I think (if i remember correctly) its for older CPUs ?

Isn't that the thing used for prising up cpus from the motherboard? Can't see it being for a dvd drive as why would it need to be bent at the end?
 
yes i remember those !


The tool just hooked in under the metal section and let you get the cap off the pins easily, was handy if a lot of them were clustered together as getting a grip on them with your fingers could be tricky. Surprised nobody else got this, plenty of old farts that should remember them :p

TBH i have never seen one of those before and have worked on processors and boards going back to near enough intels first and have never seen anything like that.
Plenty of jumpers for this and that ect but not this ring piece.

Some motherboards included them for setting jumpers, mine came with a slot one motherboard for my mighty celeron 333 :)
