It's an adaptor so you can put your nano is a standard dock.

That would be Apple's Universal Adaptor

They're shipping them with all of their Ipods now. I got one with my Ipod Video.

Basically the manufactures who make Ipod acceseories got fed up with the number of different models of Ipod that Apple just said "ok, make it all to this size" and threw that plastic thing at them.

i dont see everyones problems with ipods i have had a 3g 40gb one scince they came out 2 years ago and never had one problem with it
