Looks like an Ichneumon wasp of some sort but wasp aren't really my field.

Looks like some type of Parasitic wasp... reminds me of that one that lays eggs inside caterpillars...

It's an Ichneumon wasp, and it's not a sting.

So what is it? An ovipositor? (For those who don't know, that wasn't sarcasm. An ovipositor is a "tube" used for laying eggs. For example crickets use one to bury their eggs deeper into sand/soil

Yep, it is indeed. IIRC each species will normally lay eggs in a different, specific insect. No idea what one that is in the OP though, there's loads of different ones.
