This was in the box and I'll be honest I haven't a clue what its supposed to be used for :p.

It all depends on what case you are using.
For instance, I have a Corsair 3000D and got one of the supports with my GPU and if fits perfectly on top of the shroud that is covering the PSU. To underneath my GPU.
Some cases don't have this shroud and it can be quite a distance from the bottom of the case to the GPU. Which means you would need a different support.
 
It can put a bit of pressure into a small area. I wonder if on perforated PSU shrouds it can cause the metal to warp over time. I would have thought a tool that spreads the load would have been a better design.
 
Is the bottom magnetic? The Zotac one I got has magnetic feet so it stays putt and rubberised non slip top bit that keeps the 4090 steady. It's telescopic too which is cool.

Mine was the same. Stood it on top if my PSU and even when fully extended it was about 10mm short :p

I don't have it anymore.though.
