Hay guys was given some pc bits and i got this bit of hardware not sure what it is. ( must be old cause looks like in can take tapes lol

As Silverwolf says it looks like some kind of tape drive given the clues, it would seem to fit in 5.25" drive bay (difficult to tell from the size really) and uses both IDE for data and molex power leads.

Probably not worth anything much other than as a curiousity.
 
Yeah probs not worth anything just wanted to know what it is before i bin it cause u never know lol:D

(Has a tape inside i think as well lol)

more helpfull if the picture showed the front ;P. The back of a tapedrive doesnt show very much.

If the tape on top is from the drive, its a DAT drive, These come in several types and capacities, ranging from DDS1, to DDS5, and also DAT72, and DAT150. Depending on the drive/media type capacity ranges from 2GB to 150GB.

They are quite robust little tapes, and still faily common in small scale backup systems.

Most dat drives are SCSI not IDE, cant really tell from the picture, but looks suspiciously like a scsi interface (more pins than IDE).
