I was referring more to the point that places like Vegas exist for when one wants to spend such amounts. Blowing that in Amsterdam is a waste.

My reasoning is this:

If you spent £8000 on an unspecified purchase in Amsterdam, it would not be a surprise if that money got you drugs and/or the services of prostitutes. It would, however, be a surprise if you got nothing in return for your money.
