lol - my dad recently wanted a hire car for something they were doing at work - requested something roomy (I guess it was), diesel (it was petrol) and discrete - suitable for business use... and... they dropped off one of those in bright yellow. Someone must have been having a laugh.

Had to laugh " a golf, or similar" opens picture to see a FIAT 500. Made me smile.

Those seem like very big sensors for auto wipers and such but as above that is normally where they are placed.

Checking Fiat's blurb on the website it's got a feature called 'City Brake Control' where it sends a death ray out of the top of the windscreen so I reckon that's the double sensor/transmitter and the rain sensor/auto lights etc lives below it.

Looks the same as the "city safety" sensors on my Volvo. It's supposed to slam on the brakes to prevent or reduce the severity of low speed collisions, below 30mph IIRC.

I've only experienced it once and it saved me from driving into the back of someone while I wasn't paying attention on the way home from a night shift. It's great!

Sounds like it makes city driving easy, just don't brake!

He must surely blame himself - every car hire firm has a list of categories you can book from, why didn't he book the specific category that suited him best rather than phone up with a totally vague description like that?

They are all on each hire car firms website!

Cameras and sensors for crash avoidance (auto brake), auto lights, adaptive cruise, rain go here - not sure what you had fitted, but look like crash avoidance as it's stereoscopic. Additional radar sensors may be where the foglights were or in the grille..

I doubt he actually booked it himself, but what he asked for and what he got were somewhat different heh.

Usually gets something along the lines of an Audi A6 or BMW I think 5 series so how on earth it ended up as a Fiat 500 not sure.
