What is VID in Core Temp?

I have my voltage set to 1.28v in the BIOS, but the VID reading on Core Temp when stress testing goes up to 1.4v?

What is this and should I be concerned?

No you shouldn't be concerned. The VID isn't the same as the vcore voltage, you want to use something like CPU-Z to show the frequency and voltage on the cpu.

The VID is I believe what the CPU would be asking for if auto voltage was set... but don't quote me on that. The vcore is what is important as that's what it is actually getting.

I've just changed from haswell to IVE, vcore set manually to 1.2v and VID in core temp reports up to 1.24v under load. CPU-z will bounce to 1.212v (as shown in asus suite).

VID on haswell usually runs below vcore so this is a tad confusing!

Since Sandybridge VID is the voltage the CPU requests from the MB when Vcore is set to Auto. It varies with clock rate.
