What is windows putting on my SSD?

Hey guys,

Just a quick question, im having an issue with data on my SSD. Slowly but surely when I check my SSD (128gb + Windows install drive) it is slowly, slowly leaking space?

The hard drive is being used up even though I have nothing new on it, installed or otherwise? WTF?

Any help much appreciated!

Page file or hibernation file possibly (show hidden files and folders, and they are on the root of C)

Could also be the hidden temp folder.

Try Treesize Free if you have no luck with those. I think you can set it up to include hidden files.

Let us know the size of the page file, it may help to change its maximum size.

Could also be restore points, but less likely if you aren't installing/uninstalling things.
 
The disk clean up utility will do naff all, but worth a go for the short amount of time it takes. You might get a gig back if you're lucky. :p

just checked..data size gone up 0.2gb :S i have 58gb left and nothing more to put on it so im not totally desperate for storage space, just wanted to know what the hell is going on..

I had the same problem. It was Windows for some reason creating endless shadow copies and never clearing the old ones :confused: It sorted itself out when I went from win7->win10 or win10->anniversary update, can't remember which.
 
For me it's always system restore points taking up a few GB, and Chrome cache takes up somewhere between 500Mb - 1Gb.
 
Back when I was using Avast there was something called "NG Module" which forced increased the system restore point to 50% of the C drive. Uninstalled it, cleaned all the system restore points that was building up and it freed up a lot of space.
 
hey guys.

another bloody problem, i reinstalled windows 10 and now im having sound issues..

windows is recognising my RAZER KRAKEN USB headset both sound and mic, but when I play CS or Discord there is no connection for the mic?

please help :S need my mic asap.
