Hey guys.
So i've been looking into upgrades recently, and it was only a year since i upgraded my Graphics card.
I was thinking either my CPU, which is a i7 2600 @ 3.4ghz or upgrading to a 780 3gb nvidia.

Mainly because i want to consistently hit above 90 fps to fully utilize my 120hz monitor, usually 60 to 75-80 fps feels sluggish when you've gone to 120hz

My case isnt huge, a zalman z9, but ive managed to squeeze it all in.

My CPU fan is still stock on my i7, so id upgrade the fan too if it did CPU, how easy is it to change a cpu, is it a case of remove, replace and download drivers like when you first build a PC? ;)

RAM is fine, mmight need a PSU upgrade at 750w, but it seems fine as is, was thinking of one day making it 4k fully reliable, as i have a 4k monitor i just dont up it to 4k resolution and use it for side stuff.

Many thanks, my full specs are

i7 2600 @ 3.4ghz, nvidia 680 power edition, 8gb samsung green, and i dont remember the MOBO make but i know it'll take a new card or cpu, not sure if i have enough case space depedning on how much bigger the 780 is from the 680

Many thanks.

The CPU is still great, and will be absolutely fine for a long while yet. You could always grab an aftermarket cooler and overclock it. :)

The GPU will be a more worthwhile upgrade, I went from a GTX670 DCU2 OC (essentially GTX680 performance) to a GTX780 and the performance boost was very nice indeed!

I have an i5 2500K @ 4.6GHz.

What PSU do you currently have? 750W is overkill for a GTX780, a good 500W would do fine.

is your 2600 a "k" version? if it is, it still has a lot of years left on it...just overclock it (buy a heatsink first though)

a 750w is more than enough to run a single gpu rig if it is a quality one

and just get a 780 as an upgrade from the 680 =)

I'd advise with upgrading to a 780.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-209-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341 This will fit unless you wanted a different cooler/brand etc? Your case allows cards up to 290mm long.

I hope it does! My gtx 680 power edition is veeeery tight fit, i'll try get some piccies for you later!

I only upgraded last year from a 6870 and i was amazed at the performance boost, if a 780 is really taht much better id be a lot happier.

And to the other guy, i dont think i can overclock mine, it isnt the K edition, i still need a new CPU cooler for sure, but i dont think it can be clocked over 3.8???? Not entirely sure

This was the card i was looking into http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-114-GI
I basically want the best single card i can get so far that isnt a spinoff titan thing!

Ah even if it isn't the K version it will be fine running at stock. Sorry, I assumed it was a K.

It can still be overclocked by 4 speed bins more than Turbo ratios, if you are using Z chipset board.

My Motherboard is a Z one AFAIK, ill have to look into it,

Yea i dont think the one i linked will fit my case, which is a shame, i might need to get a new case but i worry about messing up the moving of all of it onto a new case.

EDIT-
But to be honest, both cards linked have teh exact same specs, just one has a different cooler, and my current card doesnt have too many fans so it'd be same temps which is fine.
