What is wrong with FF13-2?

Hey all.

Firstly, FF VII through X hold very fond memories for me.
I played FF12, it was a bit meh. FF X-2 was HORRIFIC.
Now, I need to finish FFXIII before I get FFXIII-2, but I see FFXIII-2 is already £18 on the 360.

Is there something seriously wrong with this game? The reviews say it is reasonably good!
 
Its one of the worst Final Fantasy's going. Its so linear its unbelievable, you might as well watch someone else play it. I would definitely give it a miss. The only bit of freedom you get on the game is on a late chapter where you can wonder a kind of plain and do some grinding, other than that its pathetic.

No games hold there money anymore and FF13 dropped extremely quickly so its hardly a surprise that its sequel did too.

The game imo is epicly awesome and allot better than FFXIII in every way, I paid £74.85 but i got the Crystal Edition and ive allready got my moneys worth from it and ive not even finished the game

FF13-2 Is Far from linear...13 yes its very liner you follow the story they set aside but the game is still great but each to there own
 
Whats wrong... Its not Final Fantasy 7 lol

On a serious note though. Square-Enix have been faltering more and more with every new iteration of FF IMO. Its about time they gave the fans what they want and re made Final Fantasy 7. I understand they want to concentrate on new iterations with new stories and new gameplay elements etc but when all they keep doing with these new stories and iterations is fluff things up then maybe they should take a break and go back to their routes and re-release a classic remade :) PLEASE DO THIS :)

Never actually played 6 but I'd certainly give it a go if it were remade for sure but I'll settle with the awesome FF7. Getting Knights of the Round summon was still the best thing ever in gaming :)
 
They've put a lot of effort into the gameplay but pretty much forgot to write a storyline and develop the characters again. At least that's my view.

If you are enjoying FFXIII you will probably like FFXIII-2. I thought XIII was ok and think XIII-2 is a little bit on the better side of ok. Still a shadow of what the series once was imo.

Nothing wrong with XIII-2 imho, I've thoroughly enjoyed it. It's vastly improved game play from XIII.
 
I didn't mind FF13-2 didn't really take long to grind to a max level and I wasn't too impressed with the way they finished it though. Would say rent rather than buy it.
 
I bought Final Fantasy 13 soon after it was released. I never got round to even playing it properly, thinking that the start of this game had so many cut scenes/video scenes etc.... and when I did get to play, spamming 'X' seemed to win most battles....

.... and I am still finding myself watching a lot of cut scenes even though I am many hours in, so I am approaching the game as more of a "film" where you get to be involved in the action every once in the while, and to be honest, the story for is engrossing.

I promised myself to finish 13 before I move onto 13-2.
 
if you're hankering for a jrpg why not try White Knight Chronicles 2 (start with WKC 1 which is included)

I'm playing WKC 1 and i have to say its pretty much awesome at the moment. Feels very much like Final Fantasy XII (which i played some of on the ps2) except with gorgeous ps3 visuals. imo environment graphics are better than Star Ocean. The battles are maybe not as good (similar to FFXII) but they are still entertaining. I'm only a couple of hours in but it is very easy to get into and not that hard at all. Genuinely surprised more folk didnt rave about this when it came out.

FFXIII doesn't open up and get out of 'tutorial mode' for about 20hrs. Worst thing about the game. Once you hit Pulse it's like an entirely different game. Worth putting up with the first half for.

FFXIII-2 has none of that hand holding, you get full access to the paradigm system from the get go, there's tons of sidequests, it's totally non-linear (obviously you have to follow the main storyline for the most part, but at any time you can go off doing sidequests, visit old areas, go fragment hunting etc, go play some slot machines etc etc.). It's a much more refined game overall.
