what is wrong with my cat

one of my cats used to do that from time to time, she would then do one big one and then stop,
i always thought it was the cats way of coughing, she wouldnt puke from doing it
 
our cat used to sort of sneeze like that throughout his life. HE then got really bad in old age, almost having asthma-like attacks. Turned out he needed steroid jabs. Has been fine from then on.
 
My cats are both molting now, it's that time of year. You can help your cat out a bit by combing its lose hair out. That should stop it from getting this so much. You'll never stop it completely as they lick themselves to clean so will ingest hair. One of mine does this at least weekly, more so at the moment.
 
furball, brush your cat more so it has less hair in its mouth when it cleans itself.

cats tongues have barbs on them that are even capable of removing odours from their fur which aids them when they hunt, any lose hair is easily licked up and swallowed

I think you're expecting a little too much from him.

He's named himself after a Metallica song, and his sig is suggesting that Metallica is the most important thing to happen in his life... the fact that he manages to dress himself in the morning should be applauded, tbh :p
 
That is assuming your cat will allow you to brush it, as opposed to tearing your arm to shreds. :p

And in fairness, Fade to Black is an amazing song. :D
