well was hoping to show you an image but unfortunately print screen only shows pure black.

bascially trying to watch a dvd using vlc as thats all that plays it, but i can't watch it as there is grey/green/multi colouroed boxes everyone covring between 50%-95% of the screen and the sound is very fuzy.

is this software problems? hardware problems?

thanks

reinstall your graphics drivers. if that doesn't work, try reinstalling codecs.

I think it was GFX though - used to happen to me quite often.

windows media player plays dvd's?

not the one i was using.said i'd have to puirchase a codec to watch it.

the pc was also freezing for 5/6 seconds every minute or so, not the mouse but it woudn't do anything you tell it to then it would jump and do eveything you clicked to do.

is this likely to be graphic card related making it freeze every now and again or possibly sometyhing different?

wth? purchase a codec to play mpeg2?

it shouldn't be a codec problem if you're using VLC, unless you've mucked around in ffdshow, could be crappy grfx drivers.

Can you reproduce the effect with other DVD's?
