I has done this before when it was recently installed (well the other time it was 32bit), much faseter it started booting all slow, the most recent thing to happen explorer stopped responding... I never really do stuff to my sys to mess it up, I know about bitrot that windows seems to suffer from... That most times doesn’t happen with in a few months... Plus, I don't really boot it up until a good game is out to play... That is not a lot with me...

Never had any issues with Windows 7 64bit - my installs all boot up v. quickly. If explorer is frequently stopping responding then there is likely some hardware issue/failure somewhere - that is often one of the early symptoms of failing RAM or a CPU that has been overclocked with a lot of voltage too long and too far and suffering electromigration issues.

I am still using windows 7 64 bit with no issues at all.

if your having issues with crashes check event viewer and post the errors from there or you could open command prompt and try sfc /scannow which checks windows files
